Pink Steam
Pink Steam is an installation proposal in the form of luminous interconnected self-supporting trio of sculptural volumes expressing an atmospheric condition seen in Miami urban sky-scape.
The installation is composed of three different sized cones. Each tilting volume differs in height, angle to the ground plane and interdependent on the other volumes for support. The structure is composed of interlocking plywood ribs in waffle formation.
Self-supporting structure is concealed with semi-translucent rice paper panels with printed patterns in the gradating range of light magenta to warm purple. Composed in folded strips, the resulting paper panels form a faceted geometry with series of extruded square perforations.
Lighting condition from within the installation volume produces a warm glowing effect to the overall volume as well as its interior space. Pink Steam volume acts as a diffuser and projector producing a warm color from a gradation of vibrant dot packing patterns. The color patterns were inspired by sky transformation during the dusk of Miami.
