Storm

Storm Trays gentle undulating landscapes are inspired by the ocean and seas surrounding Japanese Archipelago. Concept emerged from a search for a multifunctional formal language for organic material, a domestic landscape that can adapt to different needs of a user. Each tray may be made unique with endless variations of polygonal valley compositions yet maintains function.

Overall shapes of Storm Trays come in two primary outlines a square and a rectangle. With multiple trays tiled horizontally and vertically, an infinite rippling landscape of wavy peaks and valleys emerges for holding objects, jewelry, accessories, as well as organics..

Wood milling fabrication method reveals sculptural beauty of solid wood through the process of wood carving. Each tray comes with a unique grain pattern analogous to a topographic map that records wood origin, age, place of growth and its location’s climate.

Storm Trays are made with solid hard maple, beech and walnut. Objects made from solid wood are very durable and with proper care the beauty and quality of wood objects can be easily maintained for a very long time.
